Essay: Entertainment plus By Erma M. Cuizon Sun.star Essay
Sometimes you find it more entertaining to read about what Michael Douglas said about Brad Pitt, for what Brad Pitt had done to his former partner Jennifer Aniston, than about what Escudero and Pimentel have to say about what Defensor and Gonzales said.
You’d feel better learning about Hollywood “hookups” and “breakups” than reading about when the next “illegal” rally is to be staged and where (so that each rally group could probably just borrow the other’s anti-Gloria streamers, why not?)
Brad left Jennifer for Angelina Jolie and promised to take care of the latter’s children, even while also impregnating her who is “one of the sexiest women alive.” Although there’s no talk of walking down the aisle, Angelina is said to have suggested an “open marriage” where the marriage stays “without consequences” no matter who’s in bed with either.
This is an entertaining reading than what Jinggoy what’s-his-name said and what the Gentleman said in turn, carrying with him to the court papers on the libel case he filed against the former who consequently said something more in getting even, etc.
Now back to the more interesting news about Jennifer who said she’ll survive this.
From the side within gossip distance, Michael Douglas said, “I don’t know about Brad Pitt, leaving that beautiful wife to go hold orphans for Angelina.” Then he asks, “I mean, how long is that going to last?”
Good question; in fact, better than if you were to ask, “What next will Jinggoy think of?”
In an interview with Vogue, Jennifer said she’s fed up with the story of her and Brad and Angelina, she’s had it.
Not so long ago, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston got married under a tent on a property of TV executive Marcy Carsey, the wedding costing $1 million, with Jennifer in white satin gown by Steele and Brad in a Saint Laurent black tuxedo.
They were both called Holly-wood’s ‘’Golden Duo’’ -but that’s over now, the five-year marriage has ended. Now, Jennifer is dating Vince Vaughn, her co-star in the Break-Up. Will there be wedding bells ringing soon and would you be surprised?
If you want to fall back on the recent past of the Jennifer story, you know she was once living with actor Tate Donovan while Brad was engaged to Gwyneth Paltrow.
Compare this to the past camaraderie between GMA and Drilon, and see them now, Drilon (gaining more pounds) standing on issues opposite the former and facing a breakup of his own party. Or how about the bickering between “honorable” senators Enrile and Madrigal -that he heard the woman on the phone arranging for people to buy off and the woman crying at this accusation while the nation watched an eye-scratching scene without hands.
And there’s the tussle between the electronic GMA and ABS-CBN but this is a long, surly, noisy story -now dramatic, now tedious.
In Hollywood, have you heard the latest, that it isn’t always about hookups and breakups, neither a matter of just male and female? And this isn’t about the celebrated breakup of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman that happened a hundred years ago. It’s something new about Tom who is set to sue Princess Diana biographer Andrew Morton for having hired a private investigator to see about the talk that Tom is gay, that he showed his other-sex preference during the shooting of Eyes Wide Shut in Britain. What would Nicole say about this?
Ninez Cacho versus the lifted Proclamation 1017, Randy David versus the Arroyo government -these are boring news items.
Joker Arroyo vs. the government of Gloria. Estrada vs. the government of Gloria. Biazon vs. the government of Gloria. Cory vs. Gloria. Imee vs. the government and Gloria. The NPAs vs. the government.
How about if we switch to Hollywood entertainment and more of the interesting separations? Eddie Murphy and wife Nicole broke up after a 12-year marriage.
Renee Zellweger gave up on Kenny Chesney and filed an annulment. Leonardo DiCaprio and supermodel Giselle Bundchen walked in opposite ways, again! Kim Basinger is divorcing Alec Baldwin.
Not only do they end up with someone else, they end up ending up until end-ups end.
Sounds like Philippine politics.
