Church gets ready for youth assembly
THE Archdiocese of Cebu will hold the first Regional Youth Day (RYD) next month. It will double as a tribute to Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, who is celebrating several jubilees this year.
Ten archdioceses in Central and Eastern Visayas regions will send delegates to the RYD, which will be held on April 6 to 9. The yearly youth archdiocesan meeting will also be held on these days.
The RYD will open with a mass to be celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Julito Cortes.
On the second day, youth activities will be held at the Archdicoesan Shrine of Blessed Pedro Calungsod. Among the activities is a symposium on the young martyr, in preparation for Cardinal Vidal’s proclamation of the beato as a role model for the youth.
The 21st Local World Youth Day (WYD) will be held on April 8 at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
At dawn the next day, Cardinal Vidal will read his annual message for the youth, in line with the WYD theme: “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and the light unto my path.” (JGA)
