Aldritz Pau, Salazar CSIT, Berns Ang stay undefeated

Aldritz Pau Linement, Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology and Berns Ang each scored big wins to stay as the only undefeated teams in the 14-team field of the 2006 Mayor’s Cup Softball Open tournament at the Basak National High School grounds last Sunday.

Zardo Custodio went three-of-three, including a homer and a run-batted-in (RBI), to lead Aldritz Pau to a 13-3 win over the San Vicente Padres in a game shortened to just five innings because of the mercy rule.

While Eric Dicdican drove a homer that carried Jerwin Español to home plate in the fifth inning to for Berns Ang’s 6-4 win over Carcar Royale and Jackson Genolaga had two runs and Sherwin Tabar made two run batted ins (RBIs) to lead SCSIT to a 7-4 win over Sarah-Lagtang.

The Padres dropped to 1-2, Carcar Royale dropped 1-1 and Sarah is also 1-2.

American Feeds, on the other hand, bounced back from a frustrating defeat to Chan King and dealt the youthful SirLitz Moto Mania backed Rebels Softball Club with a heart-stopping 7-6 win. The SirLitz-Rebels dropped to 1-1.

Junik Bacaltos struck a homer in the first inning to start the onslaught as the veteran-laden Aldrtiz Pau squad put the game away for good against the unsuspecting Padres, who could not score a run after Kokoy Cabrera gave the team a 3-2 lead at the top of the second inning.

Meanwhile, Alexis Rollon struck a homer on the final inning and Leo Dignos had run after a wild throw to give the American Feeds its first win after two games.

Berns Ang made six runs in the first five innings before being shut down in the final two but its defense proved tough enough to hold Carcar Royale to just four runs.

While the SCSIT softballers scored heavily in the fifth and sixth innings while shutting down the Lagtang batters in the final three innings to secure the win. (RCM)
