Garfield outlasts I-Cooler in Caba
Garfield Black cruised to its third win in the 2006 Cebu Athletics Basketball Association (Caba) First Conference after subduing I-Cooler, 76-74, at the San Nicolas Sports Complex.
In the second game, the LDC Warriors routed Feri-McMill, 82-68.
After taking the lead in the first two periods at 26-13 and 42-32, the guns of Garfield suddenly went silent in the third canto as I-Cooler caught fire with Jun Villar, Jebrel Calma and Lito Dico spearheading the rally to level the count at 56 at the end of the third.
Both teams fought a tight battle in the final canto and Junnie Combonga connected with an undergoal stab for Garfiel that tied the count at 74 in the final 19 seconds.
Former CCC Aguilas standout Reggie Licanda rescued Garfield in the next play as he made a crucial steal and went for a coast-to-coast drive to bury the winning basket.
