NBI raids auto shops ‘selling’ fake items...
Simultaneous raids on 15 different auto supply outlets in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue yesterday resulted in the seizure of counterfeit automotive electrical parts worth thousands of pesos.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 Director Medardo de Lemos, in an interview, said the raid came after the management of a Manila-based firm with sole distributorship rights over all Robert Bosch GmbH products filed an IPR infringement complaint.
“The surveillance operation lasted two months. When enough information was gathered, a search warrant was then applied for and served by teams of our agents,” he said.
Fourteen of the 15 target shops were found to be selling fake Bosch products, including spark plugs, horns, lights, wipers and relays.
Inventory
All items were deposited at the NBI 7 headquarters yesterday for inventory.
The shops were situated along Osmeña Blvd., Leon Kilat St., and M.C. Briones St. in Cebu City, and in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
According to NBI records, stores raided in Subangdaku were E&G Auto Parts and Glass Center, and Ihran Enterprises Auto Supply.
Stores raided on Leon Kilat St. were Empress Auto Supply, New Pioneer Auto Supply, Diamond Auto Supply, Startex Parts Center, Greatgrace Auto Supply, Dennis Marketing, Prince Luke Auto Supply, New Dynamic Auto Supply and Cebu Victory Auto Supply.
The Piston Parts Supply on M.C. Briones St., Kapitan Parts Center on Borromeo St., and Tony Young Auto Parts on Osmeña Blvd. were also raided.
A 15th shop on Leon Kilat St. was included in the surveillance and in the NBI’s application for a search warrant, but agents found nothing when they went through its stocks. (KNR)
