Taylor rules precision flying in nat’l. aero modeling tilt

Executing an almost flawless campaign, Harry Taylor yesterday bagged the top honor in the second day of action in the 20th Philippine National Aero Modelers Tournament at the Cebu Boardwalk in Mandaue City.

Taylor, of Dauin, Negros Oriental, logged in 1,000 points in each of the three rounds to finish with a normalized total score of 2,000 points and snare the championship title in the Advanced category of the Precision Aerobatics competition.

Engine

Taylor, who used a four-stroke powered OS engine for his aircraft, also emerged on top after each of the three rounds in the event, which required the participants to do 19 different maneuvers.

At second was Quezon City’s Joel Paje with 1,917.8789 points, while Muntinlupa City’s Richie Verame was third with 1,889.3454 points.

Rounding out the top five flyers in the event, which is presented by the Cebu Aeromodeler’s Club Inc., Federation Aeronautique Internationale, 3D Hobbies and Sports Association, Inc. and Sun.Star Publications Network, were Cebu City’s Jugger Llido and Bacolod City’s Paolo Rojas.

Helicopter

In the Helicopter Advanced category, Bacolod City’s Yape Infante registered 1,379.20 points for the title, while Vic Facultad (1,244.71 points) and Cebu City’s Raymund Ladaga (761.30 points) were second and third, respectively.

The Fun Fly events were dominated by Cebuano flyers with Oscar Suarez winning the Time Trax event in one minute and 0.72 second.

Another Cebuano, John Wong, landed his plane nearest the landing mark, a distance of .6 meters, to win the championship of the Spot Landing competition, while compatriot Michael Chua took the Climb/Glide tiara with a time of 3:34.01. (JSV)
