Car skips traffic, on sale in Cebu
Here’s a car that can avoid traffic jams.
One of the features of the Volvo S40, which is now available at the Volvo Cebu showroom, is the RTI navigation system that helps the driver find a way to avoid traffic jams aside from saving time and fuel.
According to a company statement furnished Sun.Star Cebu, preventive safety measures, such as the active stability system, anti-locking brakes with EBA (emergency brake assistance), bright lights and agile all-wheel driving are among the distinct features of the Volvo S40.
Anti-spin
The active stability system of the car model is made possible with the dynamic stability and traction control, an anti-spin system that enhances driving stability in slippery situations.
“By reducing the engine’s power output, or braking on one or more wheels, the system will instantly help correct any tendency to skid,” the statement said.
The anti-locking brakes, on the other hand, is designed to endure tough footwork.
“If the driver is not able to step on the brake hard enough in an emergency situation, EBA steps in with the additional assistance to bring the car to standstill in the shortest possible distance,” it said.
The Volvo S40 also has an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system. This means that power is channelled to the front and rear wheels according to the conditions.
Redirect
Normally, the front wheels receive up to 95 percent of the power for optimum stability and fuel economy. But as the situation dictates, up to 50 percent of the power can be instantly redirected to the rear wheels.
“And since the pair of wheels with best grip always receives most power, the car is exceptionally sure on slippery ends,” the statement said.
The Volvo S40 is also equipped with an energy-absorbing frontal structure, which has a steel strut under the dashboard that protects the passenger side of the car against impact in an accident.
It also has pre-tensioned safety belts. (JBN)
