2 Indonesian men with dead Filipino

Police detained two Indonesian nationals after they brought out the dead body of their Filipino companion from a hotel on V. Rama Ave., Cebu City last Saturday afternoon.

Homicide investigator SPO2 Zenaido Pastorfide said Oscar Dalegi, 43, and Bernard Lebene, 49, both from Indonesia, were guests of the hotel since Thursday last week.

Their Filipino companion was identified as Francisco Vidal, 55.

They occupied separate rooms.

Past 5 p.m. last Saturday, hotel workers saw the two foreigners and some companions carrying a body wrapped in white cloth into a Tamarax FX van.

They immediately called up the police and the barangay hall in Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Tanods of Barangay Guadalupe intercepted the foreigners at the corner of Bacayan St. and V. Rama Ave., but the body was no longer with them.

They admitted that the dead man was Vidal and that they brought him to a funeral parlor on Tres de Abril St. upon the request of Vidal’s cousin, Anastacio Vidal.

Pastorfide said the foreigners could not speak English.

The police escorted the two back to the funeral parlor so they could examine the body. They did not see any injury on Vidal’s body that would indicate that he was killed.

Pastorfide said Anastacio claimed that his cousin had an illness and was weak before he died.

He said they are holding the two foreigners because aside from the ongoing investigation, the two did not have passports and visas for their stay in the country. (AIV)
