Group sets Java training

Fifty IT professionals will undergo a two-week training on Java programming on June 5 to 16 in Manila and June 19 to 30 in Cebu City.

The Philippine National IT Standards Foundation (PhilNITS) will conduct the training in collaboration with the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) of Japan and AcrossGate Global Software.

Skills

PhilNITS president Maricor Akol said the objective of the training is to equip participants with the skills in Java software development and increase the pool of information technology (IT) professionals in Java programming.

The demand for software development using the Java language has been growing particularly from overseas and local Japanese companies.

The training program will be using educational contents offered in Japan by 10art-ni Corporation, which has an excellent development track record as Japan system integrators with unparalled technical expertise.

Japan-oriented

Highly-experienced lecturers of AcrossGate Global Software Inc. would provide participants with the development curriculum for Japan-oriented Java application developers.

Akol said the training program would also help participants increase their chances of passing the PhilNITS certification exams held twice a year.

The other features of the program include introduction to Java object-oriented programming with Eclipse, J2EE application development with Eclipse+Tomcat and Struts, as well as a comprehensive trial exam on the PhilNITS exam featuring.

Akol said the test would also gauge the comprehension level of the participants regarding the training program.

Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in cooperation with the Confederation of Scientific and Professional Organizations (Cospo), will conduct a hands-on training on basic desktop publishing using Pagemaker on May 23 and 24.

The training will be held at the DOST-Cospo training center in Banilad, Cebu City.

The training will teach participants how to make brochures, flyers and business advertisements, among others. (PR)
