Cebu-based Pinoy reaches Mt. Everest

Cebu-based triathlete Leo Oracion is the first Filipino to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak.

The 32-year-old reached the top of the 8,848-meter mountain at 3:30 p.m. Nepal time, 5:30 p.m. Philippine time yesterday.

According to ABS-CBN, the principal sponsor of the expedition, Oracion’s feat was a “reconnaissance climb” via the popular South Col route for the remaining members the Philippine Expedition Team who are in separate base camps below.
