Authorities find tugboat, vessel Indonesians took
The vessel and the tugboat that at least 10 Indonesians allegedly stole have been located, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Eduardo Gador said yesterday.
Supt. Lani-o Nerez, deputy regional director for operations, informed Gador about this.
Nerez was tasked to investigate the Indonesians who allegedly “seajacked” TB Marth Dini and the tugboat IK Santana last April 13.
The Indonesian nationals reportedly brought the vessel and the tugboat from Sumatra and sold these somewhere in Oriental Negros.
The PRO 7 Information received information that the vessel was found in a southern town of Cebu, while the tugboat was located in Davao.
Gador said the vessel was repainted and its name changed.
But he said they are still looking for the other crew, who were allegedly the ones who took the vessel and the tugboat.
Police arrested two of the 10 Indonesians, identified as Oscar Dalegi, 42, of Teling Atas Manado Sulut, Indonesia, and Bernard Lebene, 49, of JI Ankasa, after they were seen carrying a body from a hotel into a vehicle. The body, initially identified as one Francisco Cañada Vidal, was later tagged as Johannes Taruk, also an Indonesian.
Dalegi and Lebene are still under the custody of the Cebu City Police Office, pending a deportation order against them. (JST)
