San Carlos pug KOs local fighter

Maron Sanchez of San Carlos City pulled the lone stoppage in the “Bakbakan sa Tindahan ni Tita Gwapa” Amateur Boxing Challenge in Minglanilla, Cebu Saturday night.


Sanchez, who fought in the 54-kilogram division, needed only a minute and 45 seconds in the second round to beat Ronald Alvarado of Maguikay, Mandaue City by Referee Stop Contest-Outclass (RSC-O).

Joining Sanchez in the winners’ list were Roel Cal of Barrio Luz, Cebu City, who pulled a thrilling 2-1 win over Ardie Boyose of Zapatera Elementary School in the 26kg division and Eddie Boy Abiar of Maguikay, Mandaue City, who had an easy 3-0 win over JV Jao of Cabancalan Elementary School in the 28kg weight class.
More winners
Other winners were Melvin Besinga of Tagbilaran City who also earned a 3-0 victory over Marlou Tobis of Banilad Elementary School (30kg); KJ Pelayo of Talamban, Cebu City, won, 3-0, over Warren Mata of Maguikay Elementary School (30kg); Gerald Suico (30kg) over Dan Lou Codilla of Talamban ES, 2-1; Jende Boy Mahusay of Pier 4, Cebu City over Charlie Flores (40kg) of Talamban, Cebu City, 3-0;

Florande Alboro (40kg), 3-0, over Pedro Sulondro of Basak, Mandaue City; Rolito Mingasca (48kg) of Barili-Cebu, 3-0, over Fernand Campaña of Ermita, Cebu City; Ricky Sismundo (48kg) of Tagbilaran City, 2-1, over Alde Desosa of Labogon-Mandaue City; Mark Gil Millegen (57kg) of Bago City, 2-1, over Marjo Borres of the University of the Visayas and Joseph Omaña (57kg) of Talamban NHS, 3-0, over Wing Wing Haya of Bukidnon.

While in the special attraction bout, ALA Fight Club trainees Nicolai Roble (30kg) and Jeremy Castillo (54kg) both scored 3-0 wins over Nikim Sumalinog of Mandaue City Central School and Danilo Cañete of Opao-Mandaue City, respectively. (RCM)
