Cellshop to offer support services

After 10 years of operation, Cebu-grown Junrex Cellphones and Accessories Inc. (Junrex) will start promoting the company’s after-sales service to clients.

This is the reason that Junrex began partnerships with cellular phone manufacturers, such as Samsung, to provide value-added services to buyers of Samsung cellphones, Junrex president and chief executive officer Jun Yap said.

“There’s not much we can do as far as the cellphone products are concerned. So we will just have to add value-added services. We are also careful about carrying brands that are reliable. We want people to think of value-added services when they hear of Junrex,” he said in an interview.

Yap and cousin Xavier “Rex” created Junrex in May 1996. Globe named the company “Dealer of the Year” in 2000.

More shops

“From just one table in 1996, Junrex now has 14 shops—12 are located in Cebu and one each in Cagayan de Oro and Tacloban. From two, Junrex now has over 200 employees,” Yap said.

The opening of more shops in key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao is now in the pipeline, he said.

Samsung corporate marketing head Angie Limbaco said Samsung “owes a lot to Junrex” for an increase in sales in Cebu.

“We have been struggling to beat Nokia. Now, our sales in Cebu is coping with the sales of Nokia because of Junrex. We are growing here because of Junrex,” she said. (JBN)
