Host Cebu Country Club ruled the first day of the 3rd CCC Junior Open Golf Tournament, which also serves as the final leg of the Vis-Min Youth Golf Circuit.

CCC jungolfers hold the lead in five of the 11 age groups, going into the final 18 holes today.

The bemedaled Kathleen Uy led a one-two punch for the host in Girls Class A, virtually assuring herself of the title barring any disaster. Uy shot a round of 74 to take the top spot, while second-placer Hannah Wong is a distant second with 90.

It is also a one-two finish in Girls Class E with Rachita Vasandani taking the lead with a 39, while Lois Kaye Go is second with 41. Del Monte’s Pamela Marciano is at third with 46.

Slim lead

In Boys Class E, Marc Georgio Go holds a slim one-point lead over Del Monte’s Jolbert Gamolo after shooting scoring 41 to Gamolo’s 42. Go’s club mate Airon Sorino is third, two strokes behind.

CCC’s Lloyd Jefferson Go enjoys a five-point lead over Negros’ Paolo de Leon in Boys Class C, while Martin Mendoza is third with 88. Go shot a round of 75, while Mendoza’s final nine-hole tally of 39 brought down his score to 80.

Abby Olea faltered in the back nine, but her score was still enough to take the lead in Girls Class C. Olea had a 45 in the back nine to finish with 83, while Irina Gabasa of Alta Vista is second with 84.

Other division leaders going into the final day are Del Monet’s Alozo Reyes in Boys Class A, Negros’ Chepe Dulay (Boys Class B), Marian Woo (Girls Class B), Alta Vista’s Angelo Gandionco (Boys Class D), Synergy’s Sunny Chung (Girls Class D) and Del Monet’s Meloy Cubillo (Special division).
