Morning fire leaves exporter of accessories P800T poorer

Some P800,000 in property was lost in a fire that hit a fashion accessories warehouse yesterday in Barangay Kasambagan, the second blaze to hit Cebu City in two days.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Cebu City received the call for assistance at 6:17 a.m.

Fire Chief Investigator Allan Arciaga told Sun.Star Cebu that George Tsai, who exports fashion accessories, occupied the warehouse in Villa Aurora Village, Tandang Sora St., Barangay Kasambagan.

Fire investigators led by SFO1 Frank Donoso are still determining what caused the fire.

Short circuit

The fire department said that based on initial information, the fire could have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

Prior to the incident, a transformer of a nearby electrical post reportedly exploded, causing a power interruption in the area.

Fire was then spotted at the sample room of the warehouse.

Arciaga said firefighters managed to control the fire three minutes after they arrived at the scene, but it took them until 8:24 a.m. to put out the fire.

None hurt

No one was injured in the incident.

Last Sunday, an 18-minute fire injured five people, gutted down 20 houses and damaged three others in the interior of V. Rama Ave. in Barangay Guadalupe.

The blaze, the first this month, was caused by an electrical short circuit. (JST)
