Japanese firm sees Cebu as tool to boost exposure

Although it has chosen Davao del Norte as site of its manufacturing plant in the Philippines, a Japanese construction company has decided to establish its marketing office in Cebu to take advantage of the presence of international investors in the province.

According to Vineyard Walltech Systems Corp. (VWSC) product manager Thrilly Ezhel Penaso, Na-kayama Technology Corp. (NTC) is bullish that its products will achieve maximum exposure in Cebu compared to other areas in the country.

“The decision was based on the results of an in-house feasibility study that revealed that there are at least 40 construction projects in Cebu every month. Cebu is already a significant market,” she said on the sidelines of the recently concluded Cebu Construction Show.

VWSC is the exclusive distributor of NTC products, such as the “EcoWall,” an insulated exterior and interior pre-fabricated wall panel.

A manufacturer of brick and granite insulated wall panels in Japan and Asia, NTC relocated its manufacturing plant from Japan to a seven-hectare lot in Digos, Davao del Norte three years ago. The plant produces 1,500 panels a day.

Penaso said about 70 percent of NTC’s products are exported to Japan while the remaining 30 percent are sold in the Philippines and other countries.

She said EcoWall is earthquake and fire resistant. (JBN)
