Feast of Corpus Christi June 18

The Feast of Corpus Christi (Body of Christ), one of the most important feasts in the Liturgical Calendar, will be celebrated on June 18 (Sunday).

The celebration highlights the nine-day Eucharistic Festival celebration, which includes the daily novena masses at 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. that will start on June 9 and culminate with the feast on June 18, at the Chapel of the Adoration Convent of Peace along A. Fortuna st. at the junction of Cebu and Mandaue cities. This year’s theme is “ Eucharist: Our Source of Strength for Faithful Stewardship”

The nine-day novena masses will be celebrated by the following: June 9 (Friday) at 6 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Bobby Evisa, SVD, 5:30 p.m. by Msgr. Roberto Alesna; June 10 (Saturday) at 6 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Agustin Ancajas, 5:30 p.m. by Rev. Fr. Sigmund de Guzman, SJ; June 11 (Holy Trinity Sunday) 7 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Jerome Cayetano, SVD, 5:30 p.m. by Bishop Vicente Manuel, SVD; June 12 (Monday) 6 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Ernesto Salvar, SVD , 5:30 p.m. by Rev. Fr. Rey Maldo, MSC ; June 13 (Tuesday) 6 a.m. by Msgr. Loloy Jumawan, 5:30 p.m. by Rev. Fr. Rolando Manayon.

On the Feast of Corpus Christi, June 13 (Sunday), the 7 a.m. mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Louie Punzalan, SVD.

Immediately after the mass, the League of Adorers led by its president, Sally Mojares, will renew their pledge. The afternoon schedule includes a solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 4:30 p.m. by Most rev. Emilio Bataclan, DD and concelebrating priests.

The Sacred Heart Choir will sing. A solemn procession of the Blessed Sacrament follows immediately after the mass with pilgrims, who include priests and brothers, religious sisters, the League of Adorers, Knights of Columbus, Daughters of Mary Immaculate, Catholic Women’s League, villages, parishes and different religious organizations.

The Eucharistic Festival is celebrated in honor of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, our living and life-giving bread. Jesus Christ handed over this great sacrifice to His apostles and ordained them priests forever. “Do this”, He said “in memory of Me”. If we offer the sacrifice of the mass fully conscious that it is the sacrifice of the Son of God made Man, we will remember at the same time the love with which Jesus loved us unto the end.

The Adoration Sisters headed by Mother Superior Sister Mary Amor, pray and wish that the Eucharistic Festival will unite all in rendering worship to the Eucharistic King and Lord; in heartfelt petition for peace, harmony, prosperity of our families, communities and country.

All the faithfuls are invited by the Pink Sisters of the Adoration Convent of Peace to attend the nine-day novena and the celebration of the Feast of the Corpus Christi on June 18.
