CIDG 7 files plaint vs. ‘cybersex operator’
Armed with the affidavits of the women he allegedly exploited, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) yesterday filed criminal complaints against Mark Woolbright before the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office.
CIDG agents, accompanied by a representative of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, arrested Woolbright during a raid last Thurday night, for allegedly maintaining a cybersex den in his apartment.
Half-naked
The raiding team found half-naked women sitting and operating computers with web cameras.
In her affidavit, Woolbright’s live-in partner Cherrybem Bacus admitted that in November 2005, Woolbright persuaded her and her friends “to perform in front of (the) web camera,” in exchange for a good pay and free board and lodging.
Bacus said that from then on, they had catered to guests, mostly foreigners, in various web sites by doing “erotic acts using sex toys” in front of the web cams.
Delay
“In fact, we deliberately delay our performances in front of the web camera just to consume much of the time because the pay is on a per-minute basis. The rate we are charging is US$1.98,” said six girls, who are Bacus’ friends, in a joint affidavit.
They said that for every 15 days, Woolbright paid them between P2,000 and P12,000, depending on the duration of their performance.
Woolbright was also charged with illegal possession of a firearm because during the raid, he allegedly attempted to draw a .32 caliber pistol from his pocket.
Since Woolbright was already released from prison after posting bail, the prosecutor’s office will still have to conduct a preliminary investigation before deciding whether to dismiss the cases or file them in court. (ROV)
