Speak out: Tractor/trailer rigs By John F. Goepper
Every day, in Cebu’s streets and highways, are accidents just waiting for time and place to occur.
I am referring to the lack of brakes in some tractor/trailer rigs.
Should the driver be forced to suddenly apply the brakes, such action could cause the rig to "jack-knife."
This happens when the trailer rapidly swings around and meets the tractor.
Other vehicles moving too close or too fast would hit the tractor or the jack-knifed trailer.
The rigs posing this problem are the container haulers and also some freight-hauling tractor/trailer rigs.
Anybody can spot these vehicles by their lack of air lines going to the trailer.
Traffic enforcers should be aware of this very major problem and apprehend both the drivers and the owners of these trucks.
I have personally witnessed accidents involving these tractor/trailer rigs and they weren't pretty sights.
