Ginebra, Aces try to end series matches today

Barangay Ginebra and Alaska will try to barge into the semifinal round today when the Kings and the Aces face their respective foes in Game 4 of the quarterfinals series in the Gran Matador Brandy PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Kings lead the Red Bull Barakos, 2-1, in their series, while the Aces hold the same advantage over the Coca-Cola Tigers.

The Kings took a one-game series edge after they staged a daring third-quarter breakaway and held off a Red Bull fourth-quarter chase for a 95-87 victory in Game 3 in front of a conference-high crowd of 15,408.

Frustrated

The Kings made it two in a row over the Barakos to move within a win of a semifinal showdown against the San Miguel Beermen.

The Aces were frustrated in their bid to sweep the series against the Tigers after the latter responded with a 77-75 win in Game 3 after losing the first two games.

The Kings will again rely on Eric Menk, Mark Caguioa and Mark Macapagal, who were largely responsible for the Kings’ victories.

Aside from the three, Allan Salangsang, Egay Echavez, Kalani Ferreria, Earvin Sotto and Mike Holper will also be there for the Kings versus the Barakos, who will be headed by Lordy Tugade, Mick Pennisi, Larry Fonacier, Enrico Villanueva, Junthy Valenzuela and Cyrus Baguio. (JSV)
