Gothong bags May bowl title
Junjun Gothong shrugged off a sloppy start to bag the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association May Bowler of the Month diadem over the weekend at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.
Gothong toppled only 170 pins in the first game, but bounced back in the remaining games to amass 1,947 pinfalls.
Gothong logged his highest score in game eight when he knocked down 246 pins, assuring him of the lead.
Second-placer Luther Tapaya scored only 1,884 pinfalls, while Clarence Tiu, who registered the highest scratch, was not far behind at 1,859 for third place.
Tiu’s 258 pinfalls in the fifth game was not enough to lift him from his third-place finish.
The monthly winners earn the right to compete in the Bowler of the Year tournament at the end of the year.
Completing the top 10 of the May tournament were Ed San Jose (1,691), Manny Tiu (1,685), Albert Lim (1,682), Edwin Apawan (1,672), Boy Co (1,623), Johnny Yap (1,610) and Ed Aniñon (1,560). (MGB)
