View Invitational opens tomorrow
Golfers in Cebu are expected to troop to the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club for The View Invitational Tournament, which tees off tomorrow.
Some 400 golfers are expected to join the four-day contest, which will use the Stableford Scoring system.
Registration fee is P3,500 for the first 120 teams, while the remaining slots will be reserved for sponsors and committee members.
All participants are also assured of a rain-gear package after teeing off, while the organizers are also set to offer attractive prizes during the raffle on the Awards night.
Division winners
Aside from the over-all champion, the organizers will also hand out winners to the Division A, Division B and Division C champions as well as the champions and runners-up.
They will also hand out awards to the Day One and Day two winners per class.
As to the handicapping, organizers have allowed AVGCC members, regardless of golf club affiliations, to use its monthly handicap posted at the beginning of the month.
For the Club Filipino, Cebu Country Club and Mactan Golf Club players, who are not members of AVGCC, they will use the unified handicap indexes. (ML)

Cebu dance team to vie in US tilts
Team Cebu City-Dancesport is gearing up for a month-long stint in the US dubbed the “DTCC USA Road Show and Competition.”
The 12-person team will leave for the US on July 28, where they will take part in a series of shows and competitions in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Las Vegas.
Starting today, the team is doubling its efforts in the training in preparation for their tight schedule in the US.
The team’s spokesperson, April Ramos, said that the activity is in line with their aim of producing world-class performers and award-winning dancesport athletes.
Exposure
“This will expose the athletes to the international scene. It will greatly train them in dealing with conditions outside the confines of their surroundings, and it will introduce them to the international dancesport community,” Ramos said.
Led by the organizing duo of dancesport head coach Loloi Rendon and dancesport director Eleanor Hayco, the group will first take part in a show at the San Francisco Bay on July 22, before pitting their skills against pairs from all over the world in the International Grand Ball Championship on July 28.
On Aug. 4, the team will perform at the LA Dance Village and in Las Vegas the next day before proceeding to the Empire State Dancesport Championship in Manhattan on Aug. 10-14.
Team members
They will then compete in the Star Ball Dancesport Championships in Las Vegas on Aug. 17-20 before they head back home on Aug. 24.
The team is composed of real-life couple Jojie and Jonah del Rosario, Lowell Bernados and Jeanen Bergado, Jimmy Joel and Karla Fornolles and Genice Marquez and Charlea Lagaras.
The team’s trip is supported by the Filipino Community of USA and the Cebu City Government.
Aside from the US trip, the team is also preparing for the National Mid-Year Ranking on July 15 in Manila. (MGB)
