Coops convene
The Visayas Cooperative Development Center (Victo) held its 36th annual cooperative convention last May 27 to 28 at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu.
Dubbed “Ignite, Invite, Unite,” the convention strengthened its cooperatives in the Visayas by promoting cooperativism, characterized by self-reliance, mutual assistance, democracy, justice and nationalism, to achieve total human development.
Sen. Mar Roxas and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Francis Monera served as event speakers.
Victo has over 200 active affiliate cooperatives from 16 of the 17 provinces of the Visayas.
Performance
These are segmented into development categories according to their social and economic performance.
Its current services include its flagship programs on consultancy, education and training, bookkeeping services, coop and community organizing, hostel and special projects with local and international partner agencies. (UP Masscom Intern Vanessa Balbuena)
