Cops to soon hang blue polo shirts
Local policemen will no longer be allowed to wear the blue polo shirt with collar, which they use as alternate to their general office attire.
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Chief Melvin Gayotin said this was one of the points raised by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) during its annual visit to the police offices yesterday.
Napolcom pointed out that the blue polo shirt is not the uniform that the office sanctioned so it should not be used in lieu of the GOA.
Memo
Gayotin said he will issue a memorandum to remind all his units about this concern.
But it is not only CCPO personnel but also policemen from other units who wear the blue polo uniform with the name of their unit printed at the back of the shirt.
The CCPO, on the other hand, has requested Napolcom to allow them to wear ball caps on field, instead of the oversee cap.
Gayotin explained that oversee caps make policemen move uncomfortably because it falls easily, especially if they are running after criminals.
Oversee caps, however, can be used in official business transactions.
The CCPO also asked the Napolcom if they can find a way to make career advancement training courses available in the region.
Some officers, especially those who have the rank of inspector, have to go to Manila or Davao because the training course needed for their rank is not offered in the Regional Training School 7. (MBG)
