Midwife gets chance to expand services
A 43-year-old midwife finally got her dream of expanding her lying-in clinic which serves poor communities in several barangays in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.
Evelyn Mendoza, who has long dreamed of expanding her two-bed clinic to an eight-bed facility, got the Philippine Farmers’ Bank Inc.’s approval to avail herself of a P23,000 loan.
Mendoza assists an average of 20 to 25 mothers in childbirth every month.
This is the first approval of a loan for the improvement of structural facilities of a lying-in clinic owned and operated by a Business Enhancement Support and Training (Best) midwife graduate.
Achievement
Best offers business modules for midwives attending the course, thereby enhancing their skills in entrepreneurship and management.
“Thanks to the Best training, I can now aspire to expand my practice and service more people in the barangays,” Mendoza said.
As a single mother of two, Mendoza had her share of ordeals in life, but it did not stop her from striving to achieve her goals.
One way for her to be able to efficiently provide both is to improve her clinic by having more beds, wider hallways, comfortable restrooms, and assured privacy during consultations and counseling sessions.
Mendoza also looks forward to have her PhilHealth accreditation accomplished within the month.
This will be a great help to her clients who may want to avail themselves of discounted health care services.
