Globe implements program for SMEs
Technologies are nothing if the people, especially those in the corporate world, do not know how to apply these in their respective businesses.
“It is not about technologies, it is about providing you with solutions,” said Gil Genio, Innove Communications chief operating officer.
He said during the opening of the InTourPreneur Conference 2006 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino last week that people “are not yet fully aware” of how to apply the technologies to their own advantage.
“There is a need to educate the people, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on how to take advantage or create solutions out of technology,” Genio said.
Customer groups
He said this is the reason that Globe Telecom and Innove Communications organized four major customer segment groups—consumer mobile, consumer broadband, enterprise and, more recently, SMEs. Each group is focused and committed to providing solutions to their respective segments, he added.
Globe’s creation of the SME segment is a manifestation of the company’s recognition of the critical importance of the SME sector to the Philippine economy, he said.
Genio said SMEs now—including sari-sari stores or retail stores, manufacturing, networking companies, and bed and breakfast inns, among others—demand a variety of services or solutions, such as traditional landline with Internet access, WiFi (wireless fidelity) access, blackberry electronic commerce and all sorts of applications that enable them to improve operational efficiencies, raise revenues and reduce operating costs.
Another application that Globe has developed for SMEs are “machine to machine” solutions. (JBN)
