Bata to play in IPT
The Philippines’ biggest pool star, Efren Reyes, will lead a crack team of cue artists in the $2 million-rich International Pool Tour 2006 North American 8-Ball Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 22-30.
Reyes, who won the $200,000 top purse in last year’s IPT King of the Hill tournament, will be joined by his friend Francisco “Django” Bustamante, and contemporary Jose “Amang” Parica in the event, which attracted 200 players from around the world.
Other Pinoys who qualified in the tournament, which offers $350,000 to the champion, are Cebuano Warren Kiamco, Marlon Manalo, Dennis Orcullo and Alex Pagulayan.
Other Pinoys who are in the event are reigning Sun.Star Superbalita champion Ronato Alcano, Rodolfo Luat, Gandy Valle, Antonio Lining and US-based Santos Sambajon.
According to the tournament’s official website, the 200 players will be divided into 40 groups of five players each with the top three in each group advancing to the next level. Those who lost out in the first stage will take home $2,000. (ML) |
