Gov’t urges SMEs to be competitive
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must be “proactive competitors” in the world trading arena, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Director for Southern Mindanao Merly Cruz said.
To help SMEs become competitive, the DTI-Center for Industrial Competitiveness (CIC) will embark on a one-day Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Roadshow and Symposium on the proactive programs for competitiveness on July 12 at the Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City.
Cruz said the activity will prepare companies and organizations for the challenges caused by stiff competition in the world market.
The DTI-CIC, the implementing agency of the PQA program, has been holding roadshows all over the country to assist local organizations, especially SMEs,.
Criteria
Under the program, companies and organizations—regardless of size, sector and maturity— will adopt the PQA criteria and commit themselves to a culture of excellence and continuing self-development. As a result, they can implement quality- and productivity-enhancing practices and management systems.
Cruz said SMEs should take advantage of the opportunity especially that the registration is free of charge.(Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
