UPOU offers nursing
The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is offering the Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) program through its distance education mode for the second semester of 2006-2007.
The MAN program is designed to prepare qualified nurses in the Philippines and abroad for clinical specialization and leadership in adult health nursing or maternal and child health nursing.
It is intended for professional nurses in various nursing fields, including education, service, administration, community health, research and private practice.
Applicants to the program must have a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, at least one year work experience as a staff nurse in a hospital or public health agency and has a valid Professional Regulation Commission license to practice nursing.
The curriculum consists of 12 units of core courses, 12 units of major courses and six units of electives.
Students must also complete a six-unit thesis.
Deadline
The deadline for submission of application of admission is on July 15.

Application forms may be secured at Room 134, AS Building, UPOU Learning Center at UP Cebu College, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
Forms may also be downloaded from the UPOU website www.upou.org.
Aside from the MAN program, UP is also offering for the second semester the Associate in Arts (for UP College Admission Test passers only), Diploma in Social Studies Education and Diploma in Language Studies for Teachers.
It will also offer the Master of Arts in Education major in Social Studies Education/Master of Arts in Education major in Language Studies for Teachers, Master of Development Communication, Master in Information System, Professional Teaching Certification and the Diploma in Social Work.
Deadline for submission of applications is also on July 15.
