Lapu police scores; CPPO misses target

THE Lapu-Lapu City Police scored in the campaign against illegal drugs, hauling 11 packs of shabu in a buy-bust late Saturday night.

Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (Paidsotf) personnel of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, for their part, missed their target in Toledo City, but arrested two of the target’s cohorts in a separate operation.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a team from the station’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Section seized a total of 12 packs of shabu, one of which was sold to them in a buy-bust.

Poseur buyer

They arrested Rodrigo “Digoy” Mortega, 39, in Barangay Ibo at 11:30 p.m. after he sold a packet of shabu to a police poseur buyer for P100.

When they frisked him, he reportedly yielded 11 more packets of shabu and P3,060 placed in a white plastic container.

After the buy-bust, the police team, along with barangay officials, proceeded to Mortega’s house and served a search warrant signed by Regional Trial Court Judge Geraldine Faith Econg.

Police seized nine empty clear plastic packs, improvised glass tooter and burner, a sealer, a pair of scissors, two cellular phones, lighters and other paraphernalia used in repackaging shabu.

Detained

Before the search, police also caught Lanny Ybales Mutya, 22, inside the house, in possession of a packet of shabu.

Mutya and Mortega are detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Station.

As for the Paidsotf team, SPO3 Raymundo Enriquez led policemen to Barangay Don Andres Soriano (DAS), Toledo City to conduct a buy-bust against Gloria Larong.

The team used a P500 bill and asked a poseur buyer to transact with her.

In the middle of the transaction, Larong sensed Enriquez approaching, prompting her to run off with the P500 cash.

However, her companions Fernando Bascon, 34, and Romulo Tingga, 26, were arrested.

Police recovered six used aluminum foil strips with traces of shabu, two lighters, two cellular phones and P4,060 cash in their possession. (MEA)
