Asian FC seminar in Cebu

Asian FC seminar in Cebu

July will be a busy month for Cebu coaches as they set to participate in three seminars culminating with an Asian Football Confederation Coaching License C for survivors.

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) senior coaches Aries Caslib and Marlon Maro will conduct the AFC License C at the end of this month but before that seminar, the Cebu Football Association will hold two other seminars to equip the participants with the knowledge to hurdle the test.

Basic coaching

“We decided to conduct a basic coaching course first,” said CebuFA president Jonathan Maximo. “Since this is also the recommendation of the PFF because in the Mindanao (AFC License C) seminar, there were a lot of casualties.”

Maximo will ask Cebu’s licensed coaches, Glen Ramos, Mario Ceniza, Dexter Arrojado and Joshua Fegidero to conduct the basic seminar.

“We will ask for a course outline from the PFF, we could do it ourselves but its better if we ask from the PFF. This will just be two to three days of basic coaching,” said Ceniza.

After the basic course, the National Coaching Course Certificate will follow, which will also be conducted by Caslib, the Senior Men’s coach.

Aside from the seminar, Ceniza is busy preparing for the PFF Men’s Under-17 Regional Finals on July 28-30 at the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit field in Ayala.

Cebu squad

The Cebu team will be represented by players from Springdale, the Red Ribbon Under-14 champion with reinforcements Michael Sharpe and Paolo Cases of the Cebu International School, Sean Gacayan and Anthony Maderazo of Don Bosco Technological Center and another player from Abellana National School.

“We are having a hard time gathering the players for practice because of classes,” said Ceniza.

Cebu will compete with teams from Dumaguete, Bacolod and Iloilo. (ML)
