Food poisoning no big deal: PSC chairman
Philippine Sports Commission Chief William "Butch" Ramirez criticized his detractors for making a big deal with a food poisoning incident last Saturday dawn at the PSC.
"They just want to bring me down. Dili gyud sila gusto nga naay Bisaya nga mo-excel dinhi," said Ramirez, a native of Davao who served as PSC commissioner before becoming chairman last year.
Bloated
It was reported that over 50 PSC staff members and athletes were rushed to the Philippine Center for Sports Medicine for vomiting, stomach pains and fever. They have been diagnosed with food poisoning by the attending physician.
"The number is just bloated. They are just trying to make an issue out of it," Ramirez said.
Not alarming
Though he did not divulge details, Ramirez said that the patients' conditions are not alarming. Some were released on the same day.
"These things happen. Na-food poison man gani ang presidente," Ramirez said.
Ramirez will be in Cebu this Saturday to be the guest speaker of the opening of the 6th season of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. Ramirez will also be shedding light on the controversies hounding the commission in a press conference before his Cesafi guesting. (MCB)
