Tanod son, 31, shot dead; woman wounded
A 31-YEAR-OLD son of a barangay tanod was gunned down early last night along F. Gonzales St., Barangay Sto. Niño, Cebu City.
SPO2 Alex Dacua of the Homicide Section said they found the body of Arnel P. Catalan slumped in the middle of road near the Unit 3 of Carbon market.
Catalan had two gunshot wounds—one in the temple and one in the back, Dacua said.
The bullet that hit his head exited through his face. The one that pierced his back went out his chest.
PO2 Dario Manatad, one of the responding investigators, said a woman identified as Amparo Bermel also suffered a graze wound in the back after one of the bullets hit her.
She was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center.
The Homicide Section received the call about the shooting past 6 last night.
However, Dacua said no witnesses came forward to tell them what happened.
The police found out, though, that Catalan had theft cases.
Manatad said they are still determining if vigilantes carried out the attack.
Investigators recovered a deformed slug of unknown caliber. They did not find any empty shells at the crime scene. (JST)
