MLSDF to hold U-21 hoop fest
SIX teams have confirmed participation in the 2006 ML Kwarta Padala Cup Under-21 basketball tournament set to start on Aug. 5 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The league, which is aimed to provide a venue for collegiate under-trainees, reserves and varsity aspirants, is organized by the M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF).
MLSDF executive director Eddie Ybañez said the University of San Jose-Recoletos leads the pack of entrants, followed by the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology, Don Bosco College, Cebu Institute of Technology, Consolacion National High School, and the newly crowned Compostela Mayor’s Cup under-21 champions Mantawi Traders.
Ybañez is also waiting for the final word from the University of San Carlos and the University of Cebu, who are yet to confirm their participation in the tournament.
Monitoring
“We continued our monitoring and holding of developmental tournaments for those who are yet to be included in the collegiate varsity teams.”
“That is why we continued to support these players who need to get enough developmental competitions before making it to the varsity teams,” Ybañez said.
The ML Kwarta Padala Cup is on its fourth year in developmental basketball competition, and saw some of the players plying their skills in the collegiate level.
The organizers set the submission of line-ups on its final meeting on July 28 at the Hotel de Mercedes restaurant at 7 p.m. (RCM)
