Pinoy portal gets P27M fresh funds By Information Technology
The Philippines’ largest online portal Yehey! has every reason to sound gleeful these days.
iVantage Corporation, its parent firm, recently unveiled plans to position Yehey.com as the primary Filipino portal for online advertisements and e-commerce payment transactions. This is consistent with the growing thrust of the publicly listed firm to become a major financial conglomerate.
At the June 30 annual stockholders meeting, iVantage chairman Ignacio R. Gimenez said Yehey! will receive a P27.9-million cash infusion from its parent firm to enable the portal to pursue its aggressive expansion plans.
Facelift
Donald Patrick Lim, president and chief executive officer of Yehey!, said the portal has just undergone a major facelift in line with its thrust to increasingly become an online magazine.
Yehey! also plans a transition from being an online advertising medium into a full-scale online marketing solutions provider to clients.
“We will offer full creative and web development, and interactive marketing services that are world-class in standards,” said Gimenez.
He said it will continue to invest in the development of new channels to make the company globally competitive and world-class. Its partnership with leading Internet search engine Google enables Yehey! to offer a comprehensive news search service that is the first of its kind in Asia.
Page views
The portal generates over 30 million page views a month (of which, 1.8 million are unique visitors) and boasts of nearly 300,000 registered users.
Now over a decade-old, the Filipino site proudly brandishes its local lineage with the tagline, “Pinoy ‘To P’re!” (“This is Filipino!”).
From offering plain-vanilla search and e-commerce services, Yehey! has evolved into a highly specific, comprehensive, one-stop portal that addresses virtually everything a Filipino online needs.
Yehey! has also introduced a “change in lifestyle.” Through its Pinoy search, messenger, online world, and breta (points system), anything that brings the current “offline” way of life to the next level of online interaction is found on Yehey! (PR)
