Cepca revises format of monthly tourney

The Cebu Executives and Professional Chess Association will try a new tournament format in the July edition of its monthly tournament this Sunday at the Bibo Chess Club.

Cepca will now use a thematic opening for its event and the players will be using five different openings — English, Reti, Irregular, G3 Systems and the Bird’s Opening.

The tournament shall apply the same handicapping rules –– the Class A players will have 10 minutes to play, while the Class B and Class C players will have 15 and 20 minutes, respectively.

The event will still be a five round Swiss-system format, and will still have Marvin Ruelan as arbiter. (JAF)
