CCCI forms councils to link members with int’l market
Amid today’s highly competitive global marketplace, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (CCCI) continues to identify ways to give value-adding services to its members to prepare them for the challenges of globalization.
As such, the CCCI is organizing business councils to encourage and develop trade links between its member-companies and other chambers of commerce in identified key cities of the world, particularly Singapore; Xiamen, China; Daly City, California; Vancouver and On-tario, Canada; Kao-shiung, Taiwan and Seoul, South Korea.
The CCCI has invited interested member-companies to join the business councils. Many responded with enthusiasm.
Contacts
From among the member-volunteers, chairpersons for various business councils have been selected. The chairpersons are tasked to establish contacts with the embassies, consulates or local chambers in the target cities.
They are responsible for membership expansion and the preparation of outgoing trade mission agenda.
Incoming trade missions from target cities will be facilitated by the concerned business council.
The chairpersons are: for Singapore, Carlos Co of Cebu Oversea Hardware; Xiamen, Tony Yap of Industrial Gateway Corp.; Daly City, Marylou Tan-Wong; Vancouver, Jose Mari Bigornia; Kaoshiung, Charles Sy of Llama Construction; and for Seoul, Chito Recamatias of Intellicare.
Trade mission
Business council members will be tasked to facilitate at least one trade mission to the target city or a similar undertaking by a team from that area.
The councils will also initiate discussion on bilateral issues among members.
This will be a good opportunity to develop new business relationships with other senior level executives of international corporations.
The CCCI is hoping more members will join the business councils. The officially designated representative of any member-company in good standing is qualified join any of the business councils, provided that the firm has business interests or intends to do business in the target cities.
The business councils are organized under the trade mission committee of the CCCI, chaired by Edward Gaisano. (PR)
