Jaguars roar back to contention
Head Coach Edito Salacot
Players
Archie Antigua, Ryan Onel Arpay, Jerry Carilla , Jabe Delfino, Mannie Gabas Lyndon Gudez, Bobby Hatague, Luther Justiniani Freddie Latosa, Ariel Lozano, Ranulfo Malinao Edmar Pateño, Randy Pogoy, Armand Ponce, Jessmar Villahermoso
Coach. New coach Edito Salacot played for local coaching legend Titing Manalili at USJ-R and is also a veteran of the commercial leagues in Cebu.
He used to handle the Baby Jaguars from 1995 until last year before he got the collegiate job, replacing Leoncio “Jun” Tan. During his stint with the baby Jaguars, he led them to the title in 2002 and to a runner-up finish in 2003.
STRENGTH. The Jaguars can match the ceiling of the Lancers and experience is also not a problem.
WEAKNESS. Salacot has a big problem. His team has not yet mastered their set plays and coach Salacot said he is still adjusting with the player’s skills and talents.
KEY ACQUISITIONS The Jaguars acquired Archie Antigua, Freddie Latosa and Jabe Delfino. But the three have to prove their worth this season.
FORECAST. Considered as a powerhouse, the Jaguars failed to enter the semifinals last year. But this time around, the Jaguars are back as a title threat, and their their upset victory over the UV Green Lancers in the Compostela Inter-School last summer might not be a fluke at all. (JAF)
