Talk back: Leyson, a Talisaynon

This in reaction to the protest lodged by the three barangay captains in Talisay City who expressed their opposition to the application for registration of Cebu City Councilor Gabby Leyson with the Talisay City Comelec.
As I perceive, their actions only show that the entry of Mr. Leyson to the political arena in Talisay City will cause great fear and apprehension to them and to their benefactors, Cong. Eduardo Gullas and Mayor Soc Fernanez. Such actions will only do more good to Mr. Leyson.
As a rejoinder, Mr. Leyson owns lots of properties in Talisay City. It is then rational that Mr. Leyson has the right in all the actions in Talisay City. In fact, there is a Velez Compound at the back of Gaisano Tabunok where people occupied the lot of Mr. Leyson for years without even paying rent. For the information of the three good barangay captains, Mr. Leyson stayed already in Poblacion Talisay many years back.
As we Talisaynons accommodated Congressman Eddiegul to be our Mayor even if he does not even own a single property in the city, let us give a chance to other legitimate Talisaynon to serve. Who knows, he might deliver us the much needed economic development in comparison to the incumbent officials.
What we need is real development emanating from the incumbent officials’ initiatives. There are still many things that should be done in terms of public services and economic advancements before Talisay can be called a real City.
