Delada, rival make weight
Philippine No.1 lightweight contender Dexter Delada easily made the weight during the official weigh-in session yesterday in Dapitan City.
His opponent No.2-ranked Christopher Saluday tipped in at 133 pounds.
Delada and Saluday will fight for the RP Lightweight title vacated by Fernando Montilla tonight in the Rex “Wakee” Salud International and Powerhouse Productions boxing promotion dubbed “Double Trouble in Dapitan” in Dawo.
This will be Delada’s second attempt to win the title after losing his first try to Montilla by knockout in November last year.
Defeat
Delada, who holds a 14-3 win loss record with 10 KOs, is also off a frustrating defeat against Ali Funeka of South Africa last May 27 for the WBC International Lightweight title.
Wendyll “Braveheart” Janiola is also seeing action in the card against Philipp Parcon of Davao City for the Philippine Boxing Federation Light Flyweight title.
Janiola, who holds a 17-4 card, tipped the scales at 108 pounds, while Parcon scaled at 106 pounds.
Janiola is the former RP 108-pound champion and has fought for two international titles -- IBO, OPBF. He also lost in an IBF eliminator bout to Mexican Eirc Ortiz in September 2004.
Aside from the two bouts, there will be 48 rounds in the undercard. (RCM)
