5th robotics olympiad set
The Department of Science and Technology-Sciente Education Institute (DOST-SEI), in cooperation with the Felta Multi Media Inc., will conduct the 5th Philippine Robotics Olympiad (PRO).
The PRO is a scientific, educational event that primarily aims to challenge the intellectual and critical thinking skills of elementary and high school students in designing robots and robotic systems.
It support the govern-ment’s campaign towards the promotion of science and technology interests among the youth, particularly in robotics, as one of the new alternative media of effective learning, integrate an interplay of instructivism and constructivism as an effective media in teaching robotics towards the discovery of robotics-scientists, create and strengthen relationships and camaraderie among participating schools, their students and educators nationwide and offer new perspective and opportunities in the rising demand of robotics locally and internationally.
Science and technology -oriented highschool teachers and students, who are aged 13 to 15 years old, from both public and private schools may joine the event.
Dry run
A dry run will be conducted on Aug. 26 at the Ayala Center Cebu.
The preliminary judging of the PRO was scheduled on Sept. 20 and the final judging will be on Oct. 6.
The World Robotic Olympiad in Nanling City, China will be in November.
Prior to the competition, activities like the teacher’s training on robotics, information campaigns in schools and meetings with science teachers and school supervisors were conducted.
