Broadcaster keeps attacking Cheryl

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano will ask his legal panel to study whether or not there’s a need for him to file a separate libel case against radio dyHP anchor Joash Dignos.

Ouano’s daughter-in-law and executive secretary Cheryl filed last Wednesday a libel case against Dignos for his commentaries last July 13, 14 and 17 that tagged the mayor as having sexual relations with her.

Despite the libel suit, Cheryl said that Dignos continued his “below-the-belt” tirades against them in his program yesterday.

“Dignos denied (the allegation) in his program, and said that he never maligned anybody,” she told Sun.Star Cebu.

The mayor explained that before Cheryl filed the case, they made representations with the management of dyHP to stop the anchorman from making such statements, but these remained unheeded.

They did not send any written complaint to the radio station, though.

Thadeo said that even former Mandaue City officer-in-charge and sixth district congressman Vicente “Tingting” de la Serna called him up and told him that Dignos’ statements had gone overboard.

Cheryl, represented by lawyer Gloria Lastimosa Dalawampu, filed the case because her own family has been affected, with her father experiencing high blood pressure because of the incident.

As for the mayor, he is still consulting his lawyers on whether he will also be joining Cheryl in the libel case against Dignos.

Ouano said his legal panel is composed of lawyers Manuel Monzon, Felipe Velasquez, Mario Ortiz, former governor Pablo Garcia and Provincial Board Member Victor Maambong. (ROV)
