Reyes scatters Earl the Pearl

Efren "Bata" Reyes, Marlon Manalo and Antonio Lining led the onslaught of the Filipino cue artists in Round 3 of the International Pool Tour 2006 North American 8-Ball Championships at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.

The three Filipino cue masters won all their assignments in the other day’s action.

Manalo, playing in Group 70, racked up four victories with a winning percentage of 68.97 to advance into the next round as he disposed of Charles Williams, Gabriel Owen, compatriot Ronato Alcano and Sarah Ellerby.

Four wins

Reyes for his part also tallied four wins for a winning percentage of 67.32 as he blasted Earl Strickland, Raj Hundal, Marko Lohtander and Gary Abood in Group 62.

Antonio Lining, for his part, had a winning percentage of 64.74 as he defeated Jimmy Wetch, John Schmidt, Sandor Tot and Mika Immonen of Finland in Group 65 to advance into the next round.

In Group 69, Alex Pagulayan carried the fight for the Filipinos as he racked up three victories with a winning percentage of 61.74 while fellow Filipino Ronato Alcano had two 2 wins and a winning percentage of 57.67 in the same group.

More action

Also racking up two wins and a winning percentage of 67.35 is Francisco Bustamante in Group 62.

Santos Sambajon also snared two wins for the Philippines in Group 69.

Reyes and Sambajon were currently playing each other yesterday in table 5 while Bustamante was paired with Gabe Owen.

Manalo was pitted against Sandor Tot while Alcano was facing Dee Adkins.

Also seeing action yesterday were Dennis Orcullo, who was battling compatriot Rodolfo Luat, Pagulayan, who was facing Yannick Beaufils and Lining, who was playing David Matlock.(With reports from the Internet)
