UC meets USJR in Cesafi today

Title-favorites University of Cebu Webmasters and the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars clash today as they try to outgun each other for win number two in the 2006 CESAFI Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

Considered as Titans in the collegiate division, the Webmasters and the Jaguars, both toting a 1-0 win-loss record, will collide in the first game of the seniors division at 4 p.m.

The Jaguars already displayed the capacity to mount an upset against the heavily favored University of Visayas Green Lancers, when the two squared off in the elimination round of Compostela Summer Basketball League a few months back.

Still, Jaguars head coach Eddie Salaot remains tight-lipped, saying his team has yet to complete the gelling process fully.

Rhoel Gomez, on the other hand, is more audacious, saying his Webmasters are primed and ready.

He wasn’t as sure-footed in an interview before the Cesafi opening, when he admitted that his team, especially the new recruits and stringers, required more exposure to master the team’s set plays.

In the second and last game of the same division, the University of Southern Philippines Panthers duel with the University of San Carlos Warriors at 5:30 p.m. (JAF)
