Barrita: Fired
By Eddie O. Barrita

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) board, which shielded airport general manager Adelberto Yap from the Civil Service Commission’s scrutiny, has fired him.

So, the MCIAA board is not really Yap’s keeper?

***

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, a member of the MCIAA board, said the board found Yap “arrogant and defiant” against the “very authority that put him there.”

Where will Yap now run to for help?

Maybe, to the Civil Service Commission, where he was found wanting.

***

The Lapu-Lapu City Government stopped the construction of the P70-million MCIAA administrative building for lack of permit.
Now we know, an aviation expert may not know how to secure a building permit.

Cult leader Ruben Ecleo Jr. has sought Regional Trial Court Judge Geraldine Faith Econg’s inhibition in hearing the parricide case against him.

Five judges ahead of her have inhibited from hearing the case for various reasons.

No, this is not forum shopping, this is judge shopping.

***

Judge Econg is a classmate in law school of slain lawyer Arbet Sta. Ana-Yongco, former lead prosecutor in the case against Ecleo, the defense contends.

Now, where shall we find judges without lawyer-classmates?

***

Bogo Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Marigomen was cited by the Washinton DC-based International Network for Environmental Compliance (INEC) for turning environmental destroyers into protectors.

In what INEC described as “creative penology,” Judge Marigomen appointed four persons charged with illegal fishing as fish wardens under a plea-bargaining agreement.
