NBSA 10th season; blasts off; BTBA Mayor’s Cup opens shop on Aug. 5

The 10th edition of the Neighboring Basketball Sports Association of Barangay Tejero successfully kicked off last Sunday at the Tejero Sports Complez, Cebu City.

Thirty-four teams joined the 10-year-old league, which opened with a grand parade of the teams in the 14-Under, 34-Under
and 35-Above categories together with their muses.

Awareness

The league was conceptualized to enhance sports awareness and to uplift the socio-political condition of the neighboring barangays in the city.

Supporting the 10-year-old league are Rep. Raul del Mar, Mayor Tomas Osmeña, City Councilors Jack Jakosalem, Jun Pe and Christopher Alix.

Meanwhile, the 3rd Barangay T. Padilla Basketball Association Mayor’s Cup Inter-color Basketball Tournament will kick off Saturday at the T.Padilla Sports Complex.

Fourteen teams have signed up for this year’s tournament, including defending champion Red Team.

Rounding off other entries are the White, Black, Green, Yellow, Brown, Orange, Dark Blue, Sky Blue, Tangerine, Maroon, Apple Green, Gray and Violet teams.

The opening ceremony will start with a mass in the morning, followed by a parade with the participating teams and their respective muses. The muses will be participating in the Miss BTBA Mayor Cup 2006.

Invited to grace the opening on Saturday are Mayor Osmeña, del Mar, Jakosalem, Pe, Raul Alcoseba, and Barangay. Chairman Mike Palota. (JAF)
