Tuburan TC wins

Titus Tabotabo and Dodong Ruelan of the Tuburan Tennis Club (TC) bagged the first semifinal seat in Class A after beating July Tabura and Jun Abellanosa of the Pardo TC, 8-2, yesterday in the 1st ML Kwarta Padala Cup Inter-Club Tennis Tournament at the Baseline Recreation Center Tennis Courts.

Tabotabo and Ruelan established their dominance early as Tabura and Abellanosa failed to break the power serves of the Tuburan netters.

Lapu-Lapu TC’s Junjie Deiparine and Caloy Calooy also marched to the semifinal round after beating Erwin Yac and the injured Mike Balazo of La Paloma TC,8-5, in Class B+.

Deiparine and Calooy allowed the La Paloma team to keep the game close in the first 10 games, before sweeping the next three games to move to the round of four.

Winning run

In the B- class, Pardo TC’s Harry Abellanosa and Joseph Ababon ended the winning run of club-mates Eldon and Eliezer Yac following a thrilling 8-7 (5) win to advance to the semifinals.

PC Hills TC’s Tata Caballero and Lito Langkino, meanwhile, moved to the quarterfinals in C+ after beating Bebot Obaob and Efren Miranda of Pardo TC, 8-7 (5).

It was a sorry loss for Obaob and Miranda, who were leading 7-5, before PC Hills caught up with them at 7-7. In the tiebreak, Obaob and Miranda raced to a 5-2 lead before Caballero and Langkino rallied to take the next five points for their win.

In the other C+ games, Atty. Andy Escoton and Pompei Saturinas of Ceciel TC survived the power shots of Ging Ging Dutusme and Tony Lopez of PC Hills TC to win, 8-6, while Esay Labaya and Joel Badana of Pardo TC lost to Robert Dabon and Jun Teves of the Mantads TC, 8-3. (RCM)
