The biggest and most important food industry event in the Visayas - Cebu Food Expo ‘06 together with Cebu Goes Culinary ‘06-- took place last July 7 to 9 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino. Being the venue host, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino was proud to send in its participants for this noted culinary event. Tedious preparation, hard work and practice, heart, mind and soul was poured out by the boast of the Waterfront kitchens.

True enough to the class, elegance, sportsmanship and quality associated with the hotel, the Waterfront Team brought home the bacon.... and more!

Made to perfection, these earned Waterfront its first taste of the Gold award. Waterfront’s Festival-themed butter carving showpiece entry presented by Eduardo Natividad, Benjie Lañas and Melecio Avino, was much applauded and awarded Gold. The Last Voyage, which was the title of Waterfront’s entry to the freestyle Chocolate Carving category also honored Waterfront with its third Gold Award of the day.

Other entries were in the categories one 3-tier Wedding Cake (freestyle), Creative Cakes, Asean-themed Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Dress the Cake, Market Basket Classical, all of which were awarded Silver, while the live freestyle Fruit and Vegetable Carving, won the Gold Award.

July 8, the second day of competition proved to be no different in the winning streak of the Waterfront Team. Entries for the Cold Seafood Buffet Platter, Cold Meat Buffet Platter and Hot Dish Display were all recognized with a Bronze Award. The entries for the Plated Appetizers, Set Menu Display, Creative Asian Family Style Cooking and the awaited Freestyle Ice Carving Competition were honored with the Silver Award. Of course, in the tradition of success and excellence, the Waterfront Team won Gold in The Dream Team Challenge and Cooking With Beer Category.
