90 officials to Camiguin on P700T trip

More than 90 Mandaue City and barangay officials, led by Mayor Thadeo Ouano and Vice Mayor Amadeo Seno, left for Mambajao, Camiguin yesterday for a three-day strategic planning conference, which will start today.

Councilor Wenceslao Gakit said the City Government will spend P700,000 for the activity from its training budget.

City Administrator Serafin Blanco said they will assess the performance of each City Hall department from January to June 2006 by comparing their actual achievement against the targets set in their annual work plan.

They will also update each department’s annual work plan for the remaining months of 2006 and prepare the work plan for 2007.

Work plan

Blanco said the department heads already held preliminary discussions on their work plan starting last Monday.

City Hall’s organizational restructuring will also be tackled, he said.

Gakit, chairman of the committee on finance, said the group will also hold a budget hearing in preparation for the 2007 annual budget and annual investment plan (AIP).

Blanco said the participants for the planning sessions are the mayor, the vice mayor, all city councilors, department heads, village chiefs and the secretariat.

He said they want to make sure that there will be consistency in the City’s annual work plan, manpower, budget, AIP and procurement plans.

The delegates are also set to visit Mambajao Mayor Noordin Efigenio M. Romualdo, Camiguin Gov. Pedro Romualdo and Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano to learn about these local government units’ projects and programs, as well as their best practices.

The delegates boarded a ship at the Mandaue City port bound for Camiguin last night. They will leave Camiguin for Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday morning, then board a ship for Cebu on Tuesday night. (ROV)
