Nalzaro: Yap’s wild accusations By Bobby Nalzaro
Dismissed Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) general manager Adelberto Yap is barking at everybody and blaming them for his woes. He accused some media people, including me, of bias and labeled members of the MCIAA board as puppets. He claimed an unseen political hand was behind his ouster and challenged the media to look into the “puno't dulo” of the controversy.
I don't want to dignify Yap’s accusation against me. Answering him would be a waste of precious column space. Besides, I don’t expect a subject of my commentary to appreciate me.
My advice to Yap? He should shut up because the more he talks the more the irregularities he is being accused of are exposed. He is already facing a number of graft charges with the anti-graft office. Now, the fact-finding committee looking into his transactions has uncovered more anomalies, including the alleged unauthorized disbursements of his discretionary funds.
Yap should answer these allegations instead of engaging in wild accusations against people that he thinks are the source of his woes.

A concerned citizen, who asked not to be named, e-mailed me criticizing Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s supposed favoritism in the deployment of policemen. Here's part of the letter:
“I would like to point out one more bias that Mayor Osmeña has turned his eyes away from. He has allowed elements of the Mobile Patrol Group to frequent a disco pub at the uptown area. Almost every night, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., a patrol car is parked at the parking lot with the policemen on board enjoying free meals and drinks courtesy of the said establishment.
“The owners of this joint are reportedly friends of the mayor. This is also the reason why he and some of his councilors often go there to drink possibly for free. This establishment creates a lot of noise, especially during weekends, and is the source of drunkenness and immoral activities among our youth.
“Many fraternities use this place as 'battlefield' without respect to nearby residences. Yet the mayor allows the use of public funds to secure this private establishment. Is this joint an extension of the government that its owners no longer need to hire private security guards?”
Well, what can we do? Osmeña is the mayor and the police are under his control. But I agree that the order to deploy policemen only in that area would deprive other taxpayers of police protection.
